As part of the ROSPA National Home Safety Scheme, the CHG Responsive Repairs Team have successfully fitted stair gates, fire guards and cupboard locks to 25 homes across the district in partnership with Childrens’ agencies such as Sure Start, Barnardos and Treetops.
The Safe At Home National Home Safety Equipment Scheme is a major initiative to help families keep their children safe from home accidents. The main focus of the national scheme is to provide home safety equipment to the most disadvantaged families in areas with the highest accident rates.
Safe At Home is not just about equipment. Over the next two years the aim is to provide families with information and support that will help them to make their homes safer environments in which they and their children can live and grow.
Bill Baker, Head of Repairs and Maintenance said "We are really pleased to be part of such an important scheme. Just making these small improvements can make a huge difference to families and help to reduce the number of accidents suffered by young children each year."
