Two local residents have been taken on as apprentices - one electrician and one plumber
We are extremely pleased to announce the appointment of two Craft Apprentices who have recently joined our carpentry and plumbing teams.
The Community Housing Group is particularly keen to help local young people start a career and sees apprenticeships as an ideal route into professional skills and qualifications.
The two new apprentices, Chris Hewlett and Chris Knowles are local to the Wyre Forest district and can look forward to earning a wage as they train. Group Chief Executive Ray Brookes said "although there is a temptation for business to cut back on training and recruitment during this economic climate, we consider our apprentices as an investment for the future as well as a way to support the local economy and help to tackle the issues of youth unemployment."
Ian Hancock, Director of Asset Management explained why the modern apprenticeships are so important to the Group "By encouraging more young people through this route, we are helping to address the critical shortage of trades people in the building sector and also ensuring that we have the right skills to enable us to respond to emerging business opportunities and expansion."
